Itinerary for Two Nights, Two Sides of the Thar

2 Nights / 2 Days Thar Desert Safari in Jaisalmer

DAY
01

Kuldhara, Jaseri Lake & a Night Under the Stars

Your experience begins around 2:00 PM with pickup from your hotel in Jaisalmer. We leave the city by jeep and drive towards Kuldhara, the famous abandoned village near Jaisalmer. Take some time to explore the old settlement, hear its stories and history, and continue towards the Thar Desert. When seasonal conditions allow, we also visit Jaseri Lake, a natural desert oasis that offers a completely different landscape within the desert.

From Jaseri Lake, we continue towards the quieter parts of the Thar Desert where you will meet the camels and begin your camel safari. The first part of your journey is designed to take you away from the usual tourist areas and into a more peaceful part of the desert. Ride through the open dunes, enjoy the changing landscape and take time to experience the vastness and quiet of the Thar.

As the afternoon turns into evening, we stop at a non-touristic spot in the dunes to watch the sunset. With no other tourist groups around you, there is time to sit on the dunes, take photographs and enjoy the changing colours of the desert without rushing to the next attraction.

After sunset, we settle into our evening spot and light the open fire. A fresh vegetarian dinner is prepared over the fire and enjoyed around the campfire under the desert sky. After dinner, settle down on a traditional desert cot with a blanket and spend your first night sleeping beneath the stars. Away from the city lights, the quiet desert and open night sky become part of the experience.

DAY
02

Village Life, Camel Safari & Traditional Desert Camp

Wake up to the desert morning and enjoy breakfast before beginning another camel ride through the Thar. The morning offers a different view of the landscape, with cooler air and softer light. After the camel ride, we spend time experiencing desert village life and seeing how local communities live in this environment.

Later, enjoy lunch under the open sky before continuing your journey towards the second side of the Thar. After lunch, we begin another camel safari towards the desert camp. As the day moves towards evening, we reach the dunes and stop to enjoy another desert sunset before continuing to the campsite.

At the desert camp, the atmosphere becomes more lively. Enjoy Rajasthani folk music and Gypsy dance along with a traditional cultural program, giving you a chance to experience the music, performances and traditions of Rajasthan. The evening continues with tea and snacks followed by a traditional buffet dinner.

After dinner, settle into your private Swiss tent with an attached bathroom. This comfortable second night offers a completely different experience from your first night beneath the stars.

11
AM

Breakfast & Return to Jaisalmer

Wake up at the desert camp the following morning and enjoy breakfast before beginning the journey back to Jaisalmer. Around 11:00 AM, we leave the camp by jeep and drop you back at your hotel, bringing your two-night journey through the two sides of the Thar to an end.
